ITANAGAR: The Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC) has announced a four-day sit-in-dharna to pressure the state government to immediately address the 13-point demand relating to the APPSC cash-for-job scam.

Addressing the media person at the press club here today, PAJSC Vice Chairman Tadak Nalo said that following the direction of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, the members of the committee met the Chief Secretary and discussed the matter. He said during the meeting with the CS, the committee minutely discussed on their demand.

Nalo claimed that even the CS admitted that the demands are not entirely addressed by the state government. Subsequently, the CS also assured to appraise the matter to the CM. This clearly indicates that the demands of the PAJSC are not being addressed, and the CM has been repeatedly misleading the public through the media.

“The demands of the PAJSC were never addressed by the state government. It was the tactic of the state government to mislead the public and suppress the issue. Also, not granting permission to the committee for indefinite dharna also indicates how desperate the state government is to curb the issue,” he said.

He said that besides the 13-point demands, the committee recently submitted additional demands to the CM. The demand included the construction of the statue of Honesty of Gyamar Padang at 6-Kilo as a mark of respect for the whistleblower.

“We also demanded revocation of the suspension order against PAJSC chairman Techi Puru. Despite being a government job holder, Puru fought for the rights of the public. His act was also acknowledged by the CM but unfortunately, he has been suspended in the down line,” he said.

Also, the inputs provided by the committee in connection to the Arunachal Pradesh Public Examination (Measures for Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act, 2023 should be incorporated and accordingly implemented at the earliest. Likewise, the state government should immediately reward the kith & Kin of Gyamar Padang, as assured before. “We also want to send a clear message to the students that it’s not the committee disrupting the commission to hold the examinations or form the commission. Moreover, it is the commission who are still to work out comprehensive standard operating procedures for conducting exams,” he added.

He said the APPSC scam is a mass murder of the future of the students. Surprisingly, only 10% of the scam has been exposed so far by the investigating agency. Therefore, the state government should ensure that all the culprits involved in the scam are punished.
