Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) in collaboration with Dibang Valley District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), opened a Legal Aid Clinic (LAC) in the court complex at Anini, the district headquarters.
Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) Toni Mitkong inaugurated the clinic in the presence of APSLSA Member Secretary Jaweplu Chai and Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Roing, Tailang Laji on Thursday, an official release informed here on Friday.
The clinic has been established with the support of the Department of Justice under the Union Ministry of Law & Justice, under Access to Justice North East and Jammu & Kashmir (A2J NE & JK) Project.
So far ten such clinics under the project have been formally opened across the State.
Chai in her address highlighted on the Legal Services Authority Act, 1987, the functioning and working of the State and District Legal Services Authorities and about the entitlement of free legal services by the poor, downtrodden and weaker sections of the society through the Legal Aid Clinic.
She also informed that various legal awareness related activities, would be conducted through the clinic and further requested the participants to share the information in their respective areas.
EAC Mitkong expressed his gratitude to APSLSA and DLSA for opening the clinic which he said would be of great help for the people of the district.
A brief introduction of functioning and front office responsibilities was explained to Para Legal Volunteer (PLVs) and Legal Aid Counsels LACs on the occasion, the release added.
