Itanagar: The Army has rescued as many as 390 people and 175 vehicles stranded in heavy snow in Arunachal Pradesh, after a 16-hour-long operation, a defense official informed here on Monday.
The Army launched the rescue operation at an altitude of 14,000 ft at Sela Pass in, where snowfall is experienced several months in a year.
The rescue operation was carried out on the night of March 7-8 last, Tezpur based Defence Spokesman Lt Col Harsh Wardhan Pande informed.
The rescued people, who were also provided with immediate medical support and hot snacks, expressed their gratitude towards the Army.
Besides saving precious lives, the 16-hour-long operation in sub-zero temperature strengthened the bonhomie and bonding between the Army and the civilians, the spokesman added.
