ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh BJP has welcomed the farm sector bills, terming it as a 'revolutionary move' in the country for the betterment, security and benefit of the local farmers of the country.

Addressing media persons at the Press Club here on Tuesday, State BJP spokesperson Dr Mohesh Chai said that the 'Farmers (Employment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Service Bill-2020' and the 'Farmers Produce Trades and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill-2020' as "Krantikari" moves.

While condemning the act of Congress MPs in the Rajya Sabha for raising their voices against the farm bills, Dr Chai said that they should rather support the farmers' welfare-oriented bill, Chai said that the farm sector bills were only possible under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Dr Chai said that the Farmers (Employment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Service Bill, 2020 will now allow the farmers to sell their agricultural products outside the notified Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC).

"The Bill will also remove the barriers in inter-state trade and also prohibit the State government from collecting tax from the agricultural produce," he said, adding, "That is the reason why there has been protest against the Bill by the Opposition party in various States and also in the Rajya Sabha.

He also said that the 'Farmers Produce Trades and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill- 2020' is related with 'contract farming'. It will provide structural trade agreements for the sale and purchase of farm produce. "Though there are few farmers in the State who are into 'contract farming', the bill will provide price assurance, protection of farmers against price exploitation; and there will not be any mechanism of price fixation," said Chai.
