ITANAGAR: The staff of APIC (Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission) bid farewell to CIC (Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) Dr Joram Begi, who retired from his post after serving the APIC for almost five years on Friday.

Joram Begi was sworn in as CIC in July 2016.

During his tenure as CIC, Begi achieved glory to the Commission and put forth the efficiency of its functioning to a great extent. It was due to his endeavour that the Commission's office was shifted from Hotel Bomdila to the present premises, in a premier location, giving the Commission a proper identity of its own.

Under his tenure, the Commission conducted an awareness programme on the RTI (Right to Information) Act-2005 in almost all the district headquarters of the State, besides regularly holding the annual conference of the Commission at the State capital -- Itanagar.

To avoid pendency of the cases, during the difficult time of COVID-19 Pandemic and nationwide lockdown, he led the Commission and conducted regular hearings through the online mode even from home.
