Arunachal COVID-19 tally rises to 195 | Arunachal COVID update

Four more persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, raising the State’s tally to 195, an official said.

ITANAGAR: Four more persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, raising the State's tally to 195, an official said.

Of the fresh cases, two have been reported from Lower Siang district and one each from Namsai and the Capital Complex on Wednesday night, he said.

With the fresh cases Arunachal has 128 active cases while 66 persons have recovered from the disease. A woman from West Kameng district had died of the infection.

"The new patients had recently returned to the State and were in quarantine facilities. They were asymptomatic," State Surveillance Officer Dr L Jampa said on Thursday.

Dr Jampa further said that test reports of 1,669 samples are awaited.

On Wednesday, four positive patients including three from the worst-affected Changlang district and one from West Kameng were released after they tested negative in two consecutive samples as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), Dr Jampa informed.

"The released patients have been advised to go for strict 14-day home quarantine and self monitoring," he added.

Meanwhile, all the 114 primary contacts of both the frontline workers who were detected with COVID-19 infection from the State capital recently have been traced out and their samples were sent for test; of which results of 90 are negative and the rest are awaited.

"The 78 secondary contacts of both have been traced out and swab sample collection of 58 were done till now," Dr Jampa added.

Changlang is the worst-hit district with 51 active cases, followed by Itanagar Capital Complex (41) and West Kameng (14).

The first case in the State was reported in April 2, after a 31-year-old man tested positive for the disease following his return from a religious congregation in Delhi. He was discharged from a hospital on April 16.

After almost six weeks, the State had registered its second case on May 24, after a student who had returned from Delhi tested positive for the disease.
