ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra on Thursday extended his greetings to the people of the state especially, the Nocte community, on the festive occasion of the Chalo Loku festival. The Governor expressed his hope that the socio-religious festival of the Nocte tribe will further help in showcasing the cultural mosaic of the state.

In his message to the people on the occasion, Mishra said, "Our state is the custodian and repository of diverse cultures, traditions and ethnicity. In a multi-ethnic society, the culture and heritage of each tribe truly reflect the unity in diversity of the state. Celebration of our festivals, therefore, is the cultural need for the awareness of the present generation."

The Governor said that for preserving the rich cultural heritage in its original form, festivities become a good adjunct. In the fast pace of the march of time, ethnic cultural events provide a cushion to the roots of a fold, from erosion.
