Arunachal Govt launches massive COVID-19 screening exercise in Itanagar

The Government of Arunachal Pradesh has launched a massive exercise across 20 wards to 'break the chain of transmission' of COVID-19

Guwahati: Arunachal Pradesh's Government, determined to end the chain of transmission in the Itanagar Capital region, has launched a massive screening exercise to detect COVID-19 cases in the area.

The Government of the frontier state has deployed Rapid Response Teams who have been dispatched to affected areas to test people with direct and indirect contacts of the COVID-19 patients in the region/

"A massive screening exercise to detect #COVID19 cases in Itanagar Capital Region is underway. Rapid Response Teams have been dispatched to affected areas to test people with direct and indirect contact with COVID-19 patients. We are determined to break the chain of transmission", Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu informed in a tweet.

These rapid response teams will be carrying out COVID-19 testing in as many as 20 wards across the capital region and the Chief Minister, in leaflets, has also announced the numbers of contact persons to get in touch in case one wishes to connect with the teams.

This exercise to detect and isolate COVID-19 cases from the public has initialized amid a rapid surge in the number of COVID-19 cases across the capital city of Itanagar who has been put under lockdown.

Taking strict measures to contain the spread of coronavirus, the Arunachal Pradesh government on Sunday decided to extend the complete shutdown in the state till August 3. Notably, the Capital Complex, which comprises Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli, and Banderdewa, has reported most of the COVID-19 cases in the state.
