Arunachal Health Minister Alo Libang takes stock of COVID situation

Arunachal Health Minister Alo Libang visited the Changlang district hospital to take a first hand report on the increasing numbers of COVID-19

CHANGLANG: Arunachal Pradesh Health Minister Alo Libang visited the Changlang district hospital to take a first hand report on the increasing numbers of COVID-19 patients and other facilities provided to them on Wednesday.

The minister also visited Khonsa for the construction of zonal hospital, visited Mio sub health centre and attended a public meeting on the pandemic.

He was accompanied by Arunachal Pradesh eastern constituency parliamentarian Tapir Gao and Deputy Speaker Tesam Pongte.

Speaking to the reporters, Libang said that Changlang district has witnessed the highest number of COVID-19 positive cases. Therefore, we are making sure that all medical facilities are being provided to them.

"Though the entire detected COVID-19 positive patients from Changlang are asymptomatic, we are also assuring that in serious condition they are being treated in the nearest hospital at Dibrugarh, Assam," he said informing that verbal talks with the Assam counterpart have completed.

He said that there is no possibility of community spread of the pandemic as all the positive cases are being detected at institutional quarantine facilities.

Libang said that there is an acute lack of specialist doctors, technicians and nurses. But the state government is making all efforts to provide all round medical services at various hospitals, sub health centres and public health centers.

"We have already advertised for recruiting 50 nurses from the department of National Health Mission (NHM), Naharlagun. For the entire state, 154 nurses will be recruited by the end of this month," he added.

During the meeting with the NGOs, CBOs and public of various villages, Libang stressed on following the standard operating procedures.

Libang also informed that he has visited three locations at Khonsa for the construction of zonal hospital and the final approval will be done after discussion at Itanagar.
