Arunachal Pradesh: 2 NSCN Cadres Arrested

Several documents proving their involvement in antisocial activities were also confiscated.

ITANAGAR: A combined team of Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh Police managed to apprehend two hardcore insurgents on Thursday, December 1.

The operation was carried out by a joint team of the Longding Battalion of the Assam Rifles and the Longding Police. The exact location of the event has been notified as the Dasatong Village in the Kanubari region of the Longding district of the state of Arunachal Pradesh. One of the arrested cadres has been identified as Jangnee Lukham. This self-claimed assistant political officer of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (United) had the rank of Rajapio or sergeant major of his fraction and was responsible for collecting money.

Reports say that they had in their possession, several documents proving their involvement in antisocial activities. The duo was handed over to Kanubari Police Station along with the documents for further investigation into the matter.

His arrest has been claimed as a major blow to all the illegal activities of the separatist outfit in the region. It also brings relief to the Wanchos of the Longding district of the state who were continuously harassed by members of this outfit with their demands regarding money and resources.

A few days before this incident, that is on November 28, members of the Assam Rifles regiment managed to apprehend a suspected member of the Kuki Revolutionary Army from Manipur. This is also a banned outfit from the region known to make financial demands from the public. The project was carried out as a Joint operation between the Jwalamukhi Battalion of Assam Rifles and the Saikul Police Station in the Senapati District of Manipur.

Assam Rifles is also working actively with the police departments and local administrations of the northeastern states to control the flow of narcotic substances through the region from the neighbouring countries.
