SEPPA: The Deputy Commissioner of East Kameng district in order has declared district lockdown from July 26 to July 30, 2020. The decision to impose the COVID-19 induced lockdown was taken during an emergency meeting of the district medical team, district executive magistrate and police.

Speaking to the reporters, Deputy Commissioner Pravimal Abhisek Polumatla said that with the detection of a COVID-19 positive case through RT-PCR test in the district on Sunday, the number of COVID positive cases in the district rose to three. Among them, two were discharged today after they tested negative in the second test, he added. The DC added that the detected coronavirus-positive person is asymptomatic with no travel history. The patient has been shifted to the district COVID Care Centre (CCC) for further treatment. "We are making all-out efforts to identify the contacts of the person. Accordingly, testing of all his contacts will be done," he said, adding that the sanitization of the area has been carried out.

On the lockdown, the DC said that though shops will remain closed yet essential items will be delivered to the customers by the assigned shop owners in the respective sectors. While requesting the public to cooperate with the district administration, the DC also urged them to take all precautions and not to venture out of the house without any valid reason during the lockdown.
