ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh Assembly on Thursday passed four important government Bills which were introduced in the House on February 25.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu who, introduced the 'Arunachal Pradesh Civil Courts Bill-2021', in a statement informed that under the new Bill, the jurisdiction of a Court of civil judge extends to all cases of civil nature and subject. The Bill also empowered the gaon burhas to settle disputes and dispose of cases at the village level.
Reacting to a suggestion by Congress MLA Wanglin Lowangdong to empower chiefs, which are prevalent among many tribal communities of the State, Khandu added that the matter would be discussed with the Law department.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein who introduced the 'Arunachal Pradesh Goods and Service Tax (Amendment) Bill', in a statement informed the Assembly that amendments in various clauses have been made keeping in view the emerging situation.
Mein, who also holds the portfolios of Finance, Planning and Investment, also introduced the Arunachal Pradesh Ease of Doing Business Bill, 2021 on February 25. Making a statement on the Bill in the House, Mein disclosed that the objectives of the bill are to bring about regulatory reformations, to create investment friendly eco-system, and making it easier to obtain licence permits, clearances and NOC online without physical touch point for establishment of business.
"My government's effort to build investors friendly environment has brought good result in ease of doing business ranking. Our state has jumped 5 spots since 2017-18 ranking. Earlier our ranking was at 34th spot, now the state has jumped to 29th place in country's ranking," he said.
"Our State has also been rated as the top ten improvers in ease of doing business ranking. Among the northeastern states, Arunachal ranked third after Assam and Mizoram. Arunachal Pradesh will be the third State to have its EoDB Act in northeast," Mein added.
The House also passed the 'Arunachal Pradesh Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Bill' introduced on February 25 by Town Planning and Urban Local Bodies Minister Kamlung Mosang.
