ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Pasang D Sona has ordered for sealing the entire assembly complex for three days for sanitization work after a few staffers tested positive for COVID-19.
The Speaker issued the order on Thursday night after the end of the one-day monsoon session of the House.
On Wednesday, at least five staffers of the Assembly Secretariat tested positive for Coronavirus through Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) conducted by the Health department as part of precautionary measures ahead of the Assembly Session.
All the positive persons were immediately taken to COVID Care Centre (CCC) at Lekhi as per Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) and their primary contacts were tested and found negative.
Meanwhile, the Speaker has extended heartfelt gratitude to the entire medical team for carrying out Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) at the assembly complex to curb the spread of the virus.
"Kudos to the team of doctors and health workers led by State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr L Jampa for smoothly conducting the antigen test at the assembly secretariat on my request," the Speaker said. The Speaker also appreciated the state police department, central paramilitary forces, mediapersons, sanitization workers of Itanagar Municipal Council (IMC), fire brigade and all others involved during the Assembly session.
