ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet on Monday decided to have a final discussion with all the stakeholders on the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), which is likely to come up in the winter session of the Parliament. Chief Minister Pema Khandu convened a special cabinet meeting to discuss the report of the Consultative Committee on Citizens Amendment Bill headed by Home Minister Bamang Felix which was submitted to the State government during the day.
“Considering the sensitivity of the issue, it was decided to have a final discussion with all the stakeholders together and forward the recommendations arrived through to the Union Home Ministry,” a statement from the Cabinet Secretary said.
The final consultative meeting with all the stakeholders under the chairmanship Felix will be held on November 20 next at the Dorjee Khandu Auditorium of the State Legislative Assembly, the statement said.
The consultative committee had convened several meetings with political parties, students’ bodies and community-based organizations to seek their opinions on the CAB and to prepare a comprehensive and consolidated report on the issue.
