ITANAGAR: Protesting against alleged misuse of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) by the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Monday staged a 'satyagraha march' from its office to Indira Gandhi Park here.
Speaking to reporters, APCC president Nabam Tuki informed that the rally was in support of party leader Rahul Gandhi ahead of his appearance before the ED in the National Herald money-laundering case.
Tuki termed the allegation against its party leader as 'fake and baseless', while accusing the BJP of misusing agencies power to destroy an individual's political career and the image of the grand old party.
Tuki, who is also the former Chief Minister of the State, criticized the Delhi Police for detaining many Congress leaders and not allowing a protest rally at the national capital on Monday.
He said that denying someone the right to protest in a democratic country is uncalled for and condemnable.
"Congress is the one who created the country's political history. Therefore, there is no reason to claim that the party is silent on any issue related to the State and only voices against national issues," Tuki said, adding that the people have faith in the law of the country and Rahul Gandhi would emerge clean.
Tuki claimed that almost all the development in the State as well as in the country is the work of Congress Governments.
He added that the recent developments under the BJP Government are not charity but a responsibility, which everyone in power has to perform.
The case against Rahul Gandhi pertains to allegations of financial irregularities during the acquisition of Associated Journals Limited (AJL), which published the newspaper by the Gandhi-owned Young India Limited in 2010.
