ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh continues to remain COVID-free with no positive cases reported with over 4,000 samples being collected from across the state till Wednesday all of which are negative, health department sources informed.

So far 4,156 swab samples have been tested in the state while 3647 new and 62 repeat samples have tested negative for coronavirus, the sources informed.

However, results of 447 samples are awaited.

The return of students and others to the State from other parts of the country coincided with the government opening up the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences for testing, which has increased the workload on the sole testing centre in Arunachal Pradesh.

On Wednesday, 79 samples were collected from the Capital Complex, 31 from Namsai, 29 from Changlang and Lohit, 21 from Upper Siang, 19 from East Siang, five from Kamle, two from Tirap and one from Lower Siang districts, the sources added.

A report from Lohit district informed that about 40 persons including students have been kept in quarantine centres in Wakro circle of the district.

The first and only COVID-19 positive case of the state was detected from Medo in Wakro circle. The 31-year-old man with travel history to Nizamuddin's congregation in Delhi was cured and released from hospital on April 17 last.
