Arunachal Pradesh COVID tally soars to 11,998

At least 239 more persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, during the last 24 hours, pushing the State's tally to 11,998 on Sunday, said State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa.

ITANAGAR: At least 239 more persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, during the last 24 hours, pushing the State's tally to 11,998 on Sunday, said State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa.

Arunachal Pradesh currently has 2,940 active coronavirus cases. On Saturday, 158 persons recovered from the infection and were discharged from various hospitals and COVID Care Centres, taking the total number of recoveries to 9,035. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the State is 75.30 per cent. The State's COVID-19 toll stands at 23 till date.

Of the 239 fresh cases, the Capital Complex region registered 89 cases followed by Changlang (36); West Siang (34); East Siang (18); Tirap (15); Lepa Rada (eight); Lohit (seven); Lower Subansiri (six); Lower Dibang Valley (five); Upper Subansiri (four); three each from Upper Siang, West Kameng and Namsai; as well as two each from Lower Siang, Papumpare, Longding and East Kameng districts. Barring 35, all the new patients are asymptomatic and shifted to Covid Care Centres.

An Army man and one Assam Rifles jawan are among the new patients, the SSO said, adding that four prisoners — two each from Lohit and Changlang districts, and seven staff of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) have also the contracted the disease.

The Capital Complex region — comprising the areas of Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa — has the highest number of active cases at 1,308. As many as 2,73,441 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the State so far, including 2,695 on Saturday, added Dr Jampa.
