ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Saturday called on State Governor Brig (Retd) Dr BD Mishra at the Raj Bhawan here and discussed various issues pertaining to the State.
During the meeting, illegal opium cultivation in the State, starting of the State University at Pasighat in the East Siang district and finalization of all pending pension cases in various departments of State Government were discussed.
The Governor emphasized that opium cultivation must be stopped and administration must take appropriate action to provide alternative cash crop cultivation to the people, including horticultural activities.
Earlier, Mein briefed the Governor regarding his tour to the eastern part of the State, with a focus on opium cultivation and drug abuse as also the development of the State's aspirational Namsai district, an official report informed here.
