Arunachal Pradesh Governor BD Mishra seeks prompt recruitment of teachers

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr BD Mishra on Thursday emphasized on the need for immediate conduct of examinations for selection of trained graduate teacher (TGT) and post graduate teacher (PGT) posts so that there is no shortage of teachers in the schools of the State.

The Governor said this when State Education Minister Taba Tedir, accompanied by Education Commissioner Padmini Singla, called on him at the Raj Bhawan here and discussed about TGT and PGT appointment, strengthening of educational infrastructure and other issues.

The Governor laid stress on checking teachers and staff in the schools to restrict absentees amongst them, an official communiqué informed.

BD Mishra shared his observations about the functioning of private universities and advised the Minister and Commissioner to advise the institutions so that they function and work for the enhancement of the academic and personality development of the students.

He also suggested regular monitoring of the universities.

The Governor asked the Minister, who is also the in-charge of the Cultural Affairs Department, to look into the issues of the local artistes.

Mishra suggested holding a meeting with the Arunachal Artistes' Forum and promote them, keeping in mind the progress of art and culture in the State as also as welfare measures for the performers, the communiqué added.
