ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (retd) Dr B.D. Mishra on Saturday extended his greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of 'Aran' festival of the Adi ciommunity. He expressed hope that the festivity will go a long way in conservation and protection of flora and fauna of the State.

The Governor said that there have been welcome patronising and protective changes amongst the people of the State towards the nature, the wildlife, plants and trees in the wild. "One of the most well-known and highly acclaimed achievements in this regard is using of fibre glass hornbill beak in the Nyishi traditional headgears. The self-adopted social restrictions by the community elders and the village leaders against hunting and non-use of wild meat, polluting rivulets and damage to nature are some amongst the many appreciable initiatives of the people of our different tribes," he said.

The Governor hoped that the festival would be celebrated with traditional gaiety and fervours which would reinforce and make the fragile ecosystem balance stronger. "Their efforts for preservation of rich wildlife for the happiness of the posterity will be of great substance to our people and the nation," he added.
