ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik extended greetings to the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of the Si Donyi festival on Friday. He expressed his hope that the celebration will reinforce the splendid cultural heritage and traditions of the state. In his message, Parnaik said that the age-old traditional way of life, cultural heritage, and religious beliefs of many communities worldwide originally centred around nature worship in various forms.

Over time, formal prayers and ceremonies became established, incorporating rituals to ward off evil spirits and calamities during festivals. The Si-Donyi Hilo festival of the Tagin community reflects a similar evolution and tradition, he said. “Rituals are performed with splendour and spiritual fervour to invoke Si Donyi’s blessings, fostering trust and faith within the community. This, in turn, contributes to preserving the rich ethnic heritage,” the governor said. He called upon the Tagin community to continue preserving and promoting their age-old traditions while working towards the overall progress of the community. “I wish that the festivity and celebration of this year’s Si Donyi usher in peace and prosperity in the state,” the governor added in his message.
