ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lieutenant General K. T. Parnaik on Thursday extended his greetings to the people of the state on the eve of Ambedkar Jayanti, the birth anniversary of D. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution.

The governor expressed his hope that the occasion will strengthen the resolve to preserve, protect, and defend the Indian Constitution and the law and, at the same time, continue to inspire all towards social amity and promote the spirit of equality.

"On the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, let us take a pledge to imbibe the principles and ideals of Dr Ambedkar in our lives and contribute towards creating a strong and Aatma Nirbhar Bharat," the governor said in his message. Lieutenant General Parnaik also extended his greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Sangken, the water festival of the Khampti and Singpho communities in the state.

He expressed his hope that the occasion and the rituals attached to the festival will inspire all to follow the path shown by Lord Buddha. "On this Sangken Day, I join my Tai Khamti and Singpho brethren in offering prayers for universal peace and harmony," Parnaik added.
