ITANAGAR: The Joint Action Committee for the Postal Department Fiasco (JACPDF), led by 12 organizations and activists from the state on Friday, demanded the state government immediately incorporate local language in the state government notification for the welfare of the local unemployed youths.

The committee demanded the inclusion of the local dialect and domicile certificate in the recruitment process for the 2596 posts of Branch Post Master (BPM) and Assistant Branch Post Master (ABPM) advertised by the Department of Posts, India.

Raj Pao, the convenor of JACPDF, told reporters that the same demand was earlier placed before the Department of Social Justice Empowerment Tribal Affairs (SJETA), which later forwarded the same to the Department of Posts. Subsequently, the postal department responded that the two-point demands can only be accepted if there is incorporation of local language in the state government notification. Therefore, the committee demands that the state government immediately come up with a cabinet decision on the matter so that it can be incorporated into the recruitment rule of the postal department for the 2596 post.

"If the state government cares for the unemployed youths of the state, the demands should be immediately responded to. Once there is a government notification for the inclusion of local dialects of all 26 major tribes of the state, it will benefit our local unemployed youths," he said, adding that recruitment is for 866 BPM and 1730 ABPM for Arunachal Pradesh.

The committee, while acknowledging the Panchayat leaders for their support in the movement, said that the matter is clear and accepted by the bureaucrats and needs the final approval of the state cabinet. "And if the state government denies its interference in the matter, the organisation, which includes 12 other organisations, will have to seek the intervention of our MP, which may hamper the reputation of the CM," he added.

Since day one, the committee has been demanding the exclusion of non-APST candidates in the recruitment process for the post specially meant for the locals of the state. Therefore, the committee appealed to the Chief Minister, Pema Khandu, to initiate immediate action to solve the aforementioned demands for the greater interest of the unemployed youths of the state.
