Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission imposes fine on engineer

The (APIC) while invoking Section 20 (1) of the Right to Information Act, 2005 imposed a penalty of Rs 25,000 to an executive engineer of Water Resource Department.

ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission (APIC) while invoking Section 20 (1) of the Right to Information Act, 2005 imposed a penalty of Rs 25,000 to an executive engineer of Water Resource Department.

The penalty was imposed to Debang Tayeng of Panging WRD division under Siang district, for neglecting and refusal in furnishing the information to the appellant and defying the directions of the Commission, an official communiqué informed here on Monday.

The Commission imposed the penalty after its judgment pronounced on March 9.

The commission directed the officer to deposit the penalty amount in favour of Registrar APIC and to provide his deposit challan to the commission for final disposal of the appeal.

His failure to comply the order, the Commission might recommend for disciplinary action as per service rule.

Tayeng is the public information officer (PIO) of the WRD division.
