Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission imposes penalty on two executive engineers

ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission (APIC) has imposed penalty to the tune of Rs 25,000 on two Public Information Officers (PIOs) of the Power Department, for neglecting and refusing to furnish information to some appellants and for defying the directions of the Commission.

The Commission, in its judgement on January 16 last, directed the Executive Engineers of Tato in the Shi-Yomi district and of Jamin in the Kra Daadi district to immediately deposit the penalty amounts in favour of Registrar, APIC under Head of Account No 0070 and deposit their payment challans to the Commission for final disposal of the appeals.

In case of their failure to comply with the order, the Commission might recommend disciplinary action as per service rule under Section 20 (2) of RTI Act of 2005, an official communiqué informed here on Wednesday.
