ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh became the second state in the northeast after Nagaland to launch Aadhaar Linked Birth Registration (ALBR) to enable hassle-free Aadhaar enrolment of children across the state. The initiative was launched on Thursday by Women and Child Development (WCD) secretary Mimum Tayeng in the presence of UIDAI director Col. Abhishek Kaushik and his team, the state’s economic and statistics director Bebing Megu, among others. The initiative would facilitate birth-registration-based Aadhaar enrollment for children in the 0–5-year age group. In her address, Tayeng said that ALBR would play a vital role in enrolling newborn babies, also cover children below the age of 0–5 years, and further assist in the proper recording of beneficiary details on the Poshan tracker. She urged the officials to cooperate in the successful implementation of ALBR in all the districts of the state so that no child would be deprived of any social welfare schemes aimed at their benefit.

Col. Abhishek, in his deliberation, informed that on successful enrolment, the child would be provided with a blue-coloured ‘Baal Aadhaar’, which would be visibly distinguishable from other Aadhaars. He congratulated the state government for implementing ALBR and appreciated the efforts put in by the WCD department to launch ALBR in the state within a short span of time. He also applauded the consistent efforts being carried out by the department of economics and statistics and all other registrars in the state for providing Aadhaar services to the residents in one of the toughest terrains in the country. To ensure better reach to residents across districts, the directorate of economics and statistics, which is also the registrar for births and deaths for the state, is acting as the nodal department for all Aadhaar enrolment and update activities. UIDAI has been extending continuous support to the states by holding workshops, conducting door-to-door enrollments, and visiting the remotest areas to hand-hold them so they can derive the benefits of the Aadhaar ecosystem.
