Arunachal Pradesh logs 188 fresh COVID-19 cases, three deaths

A total of 188 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, pushing the virus tally in the northeastern State to 50,793, a senior health department official said here on Thursday.

ITANAGAR: A total of 188 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, pushing the virus tally in the northeastern State to 50,793, a senior health department official said here on Thursday.

The death toll in the frontier State rose to 251 as three more persons succumbed to the infection in the past two days, the official said.

A 65-year-old man from Lohit died at a hospital in Assam's Dibrugarh district on Tuesday due to acute respiratory distress syndrome and COVID Pneumonia, said State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa.

Another man of 50 years age from Upper Subansiri district, died at the Dedicated COVID Hospital (DCH) at Chimpu near here, on Wednesday due to acute respiratory distress syndrome and Covid Pneumonia, while another 49-year-old man from Papumpare died at his residence on Wednesday due to COVID Pneumonia, he said.

The Capital Complex Region recorded the highest number of new cases at 54, followed by Lower Subansiri (15), Tawang (12), Lohit and Papumpare at 11 cases each, Changlang and West Kameng at 9 cases each and Lower Siang at 8 cases.

Seven fresh cases each were also reported from Namsai and West Siang, six from Upper Subansiri, five each from East Siang, East Kameng, Leparada and Lower Dibang Valley, three each from Siang, Dibang Valley and Anjaw, two each from Kamle, Longding, Shi-Yomi and Tirap and two each from Upper Siang and Pakke Kessang district respectively.

Among the fresh cases, 177 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 5 through RT-PCR and 6 by TrueNat methods, the official said adding, 76 people were with symptoms.

The active cases in the State now stand at 2,488, he said.

As many as 233 patients were cured of the disease on Wednesday taking the total number of recoveries in the State to 48,054, Jampa said.

The recovery rate among the Coronavirus patients in the State stand at 94.61 per cent while the active percentage stands at 4.90 and the positivity rate at 4.12 per cent, the official said.

The Capital Complex Region - comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas - has the highest number of active cases at 635, followed by Lower Subansiri (333), Papumpare (209), West Kameng (171), Lohit (144) Tawang (115) and East Siang at 102 cases.

Altogether, 9,90,843 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the State so far, including 4,562 on Wednesday, Jampa said.

Meanwhile, State Immunisation Officer (SSO) Dr Dimong Padung informed that a total of 8,95,956 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine doses so far in the State since the inoculation drive began in January this year.
