Arunachal Pradesh logs 289 fresh COVID-19 cases

ITANAGAR: The COVID-19 caseload in Arunachal Pradesh rises to 33,664 with 289 more persons tested positive for the infection, a senior health official said here on Wednesday. The death toll in the frontier state rose to 160 after a lady from Namsai district succumbed to the disease on Tuesday, the official said.

The 42-year-old lady died at the Dedicated Covid Health Centre (DCHC) at Namsai due to respiratory failure with Covid Pneumonia, State Surveillance Officer Dr Lobsang Jampa said. The Capital Complex Region reported the highest number of fresh cases at 88, followed by West Kameng (25), Upper Subansiri (24), Namsai (21), East Siang (18), Changlang (15), Lohit (14), Kurung Kumey (12) and Lower Dibang Valley district at 10, the official said.

Nine fresh cases were also reported from West Siang, seven from Lower Subansiri, six each from Tawang and Leparada, five each from East Kameng and Upper Siang, four each from Tirap and Dibang valley, three each from Kra Daadi, Longding and Lower Siang, two each from Siang, Anjaw and Papumpare and one from Kamle, the SSO added. Of the fresh cases, 277 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 9 through RT-PCR and 3 via TrueNat methods, the official said adding, 125 people have symptoms. The active cases in the northeastern state now stand at 2,548, he said.
