Arunachal Pradesh logs 404 COVID cases, tally rises to 36,572

The COVID-19 caseload in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 36,572, with 404 more people tested positive for the infection, a senior Health official said here on Saturday.

ITANAGAR: The COVID-19 caseload in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 36,572, with 404 more people tested positive for the infection, a senior Health official said here on Saturday. Meanwhile, the toll in the frontier State remained at 176 as no fresh casualty was reported in the past 24 hours, said State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa here on Saturday.

The Capital Complex Region reported the highest number of new cases at 86, followed by West Kameng (64), Tawang (30), Pakke Kessang (26), Papumpare (25), East Siang and Upper Subansiri with 22 each, Changlang and Lower Subansiri with 17 each and 14 cases each in Lohit and East Kameng district respectively.

Altogether 11 new cases were also reported from Lower Dibang Valley, 10 from Kamle, seven each from Tirap and Longding, six from Kurung Kumey, four each from West Siang, Anjaw, Namsai and Lower Siang, three from Upper Siang, two each from Kra Daadi, Leparada and Siang and one from Shi-Yomi district, the official said.

Among the fresh cases, 379 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 10 through RT-PCR and 15 by TrueNat methods, said the SSO, adding that 182 people have symptoms.

As on date, the land-locked State has 2,964 active cases. On the other hand, 223 patients were cured of the disease on Friday taking the total number of recoveries in the north-eastern State to 33,432, added Jampa. The recovery rate among the Coronavirus patients in the State stand at 91.41 per cent while the active percentage stands at 8.10 and the positivity rate at 6.78 per cent.

The Capital Complex Region - comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas - has the highest number of active cases at 638, followed by West Kameng (278), Upper Subansiri (213), Lohit (187), East Siang (172) and Changlang at 161 cases.

Altogether, 7,76,970 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the State so far, including 5,950 on Friday, added the official.

Meanwhile, State Immunisation Officer Dr Dimong Padung said that 6,20,893 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine doses so far in the State since the inoculation drive began in January this year.
