ITANAGAR: Namsai district in Arunachal Pradesh is set to host the two-day Civil 20 (C20) summit starting Saturday, in which 150 delegates from across 23 countries are expected to participate, officials said on Friday. The C20 is one of the official engagement groups of the G20, which provides a platform for civil society organisations (CSO) to voice the aspirations of the people, they said. The summit with the theme Diversity, Inclusion, and Mutual Respect, which would be held on June 10 and 11, is being organised by the Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, in collaboration with the Arunachal Pradesh government. The C20 conclave is a major event under India’s G20 Presidency that aims to initiate extensive dialogue and engagement with civil society organisations, policymakers, and different government and non-government agencies. The Namsai conclave is all set to extensively discuss the possibilities that the global community can come together for in a world that is culturally, socially, and economically diverse.

India’s grand civilization ethos kept reminding the world that diversity is the beauty in which the spirit of oneness pulsates. Through the golden period of its Amrit Kaal, India’s call for world peace and sustainable development by envisaging the globe as Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (One Earth, One Family, One Future), an abstract derived from an ancient Vedic philosophy, draws greater significance, and the world is looking at India with greater aspiration and a vital future scope for world harmony. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India’s efforts to exhibit its grand role in bringing diverse cultural values closer for the good of humanity are gaining momentum. India’s G20 Presidency is all set to catapult its aspiration to showcase its human potential and cultural strength as a great civilization. The inaugural ceremony of the conclave on June 10 would be graced by Chief Minister Pema Khandu along with state Assembly Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona, S Gurumurthy, Chairman of Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF), and other dignitaries.

The valedictory event on June 11 would be addressed by state Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein along with Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao from Arunachal East Parliamentary Constituency, the officials said. The conclave intends to give delegates from all over the world a forum to collaborate and exchange ideas, as well as academia and civil society organisations (CSOs) a way to participate in the G20 policy discussions, they said. As part of experiencing the theme of the conclave and to enhance its vision, village visits would be arranged to designated localities, and a grand meditation and prayer programme would also be arranged at the Golden Pagoda. Jona-I and Empong villages in the district have been selected for the proposed visit of C20 delegates, who would get a glimpse of rural Arunachal, they added.

Meanwhile, taking to Twitter, Khandu said, “Namsai is all geared up to host the C20 summit, starting today. An official engagement group of #G20, #C20 is a unique platform for civil society organisations to discuss people’s aspirations and find ways to realize them.” Khandu, along with Sona, reached Namsai during the day.
