BORDUMSA: With less than a year left for the next Assembly election in the hilly state of Arunachal Pradesh, smaller parties have begun flexing muscles to make a hard bargain here in the lone general seat of 49 Bordumsa-Diyun assembly segment in Arunachal’s Eastern constituency in the Changlang district.
“While the high-voltage political stalwart of Changlang district, Somlung Mossang has been comfortably retaining the only general seat of the state – having vanquished as many as 11 rival candidates in the 2019 assembly election on independent ticket– his second innings will be a more comfortable game for Mossang,” observed Palowa Atta, the election nominee of Mossang.
Doni Nich, the chairman of the State Council for IT and e-Governance, Government of Arunachal Pradesh and Nikh Kamin, former MLA, have also started flexing their muscles nearly eight months ahead of the election, exploring means to secure a base for reaching out to the voters ahead of the 2024 assembly election. Both the leaders are reportedly confident of representing a national party and have been holding a series of meetings with the people.
“The ongoing political developments in Bordumsa-Diyun is rather advantageous for the sitting MLA, Somlung Mossang who already has a deep-rooted and unshakeable mandate secured through unprecedented development,” said Dilip Chakma, one of the core supporters of Mossang.
