Arunachal Pradesh records 290 fresh COVID cases, four deaths

Arunachal Pradesh recorded 290 fresh Covid-19 cases, pushing the virus tally in the northeastern state to 31,938, a senior health official said here on Wednesday.

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh recorded 290 fresh Covid-19 cases, pushing the virus tally in the northeastern state to 31,938, a senior health official said here on Wednesday.

The death toll in the state increased to 155 with four more persons with comorbidities succumbed to the infection in the past two days, the official said.

The persons from the Capital Complex region, Lower Siang, Lohit and West Kameng died while undergoing treatment at various health facilities, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

The Capital Complex Region reported the highest number of fresh cases at 53, followed by West Kameng (35), Lower Subansiri (34), Changlang (26), Namsai (20), Papumpare (18), Lohit (17), Upper Subansiri (14), Tawang (13), East Siang (11) and West Siang at 10.

Eight new cases also reported from Anjaw, seven each from East Kameng and Lower Dibang Valley, five from Leparada, three each from Tirap, Longding and Pakke Kessang, two from Kurung Kumey and one from Siang district, the SSO said.

Of the fresh cases 272 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 9 each through RT-PCR and TrueNat methods, the official said adding, 109 people have symptoms.

The active cases in the state now stand at 2,849, he said. As many as 326 patients were cured of the disease on Tuesday taking the total number of recoveries in the frontier state to 28,934, Jampa said.

The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the State stands at 90.59 per cent while the active percentage stands at 8.92 and the positivity rate at 5.39 per cent, he said.

The Capital Complex Region - comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas - has the highest number of active cases at 496, followed by Changlang (275), West Kameng (263), Namsai (189) and East Siang at 153 cases.

Altogether, 6,83,592 samples have been tested for Covid-19 in the state so far, including 5,380 on Tuesday, Jampa said.

State Immunisation Officer Dr Dimong Padung said that a total of 4,33,008 people have been administered Covid-19 vaccine doses so far in the state since the inoculation drive began in January. The State as of Tuesday has a total of 1,93,445 vaccine doses available including, 1,71,265 supplied from the Centre and 22,180 purchased by the state government from Serum Institute of India, Dr Padung added.
