Arunachal Pradesh registers 71 fresh Coronavirus cases; tally at 53,102

ITANAGAR: Seventy-one more people tested positive for Covid-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, pushing the virus tally in the northeastern state to 53,102.The death toll in the frontier state remained at 260, with no casualty reported in the past 24 hours, said State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa on Thursday.

The Capital Complex Region reported the highest number of new cases at 13, followed by Changlang (10), six each from Lower Subansiri and Namsai, five each from West Siang, Tawang and Lohit, four each from Upper Siang and Dibang Valley and three from Shi-Yomi district.

Two fresh cases each were also recorded from Kamle and Lower Dibang Valley and one each from West Kameng, Upper Subansiri, Leparada, East Siang, Papumpare and Anjaw district respectively.

Among the fresh cases, 64 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 3 through RT-PCR and 4 by TrueNat methods, the official said adding, 30 people were with symptoms.

The active cases in the state now stand at 873, he said. As many as 61 patients were cured of the disease on Wednesday taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 51,969.

The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the state stand at 97.87 per cent while the active percentage stands at 1.64 and the positivity rate at 2.49 per cent, the official said. The Capital Complex Region - comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas - has the highest number of active cases at 167, followed by Lower Subansiri (84), West Kameng (62), Upper Siang (58) and Lower Dibang Valley with 56 cases.

Altogether, 10,62,463 samples have been tested for Covid-19 in the state so far, including 2,849 on Wednesday, added Dr Jampa. Meanwhile, State Immunisation Officer (SSO) Dr Dimong Padung informed that a total of 9,82,136 people have been administered Covid-19 vaccine doses so far in the state since the inoculation drive began in January this year.
