Arunachal Pradesh registers 97 COVID patients

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh's COVID-19 tally rose to 15,581 on Wednesday as 97 more persons, including 32 security personnel, tested positive for the infection. Meanwhile, 85 more persons have been cured of the disease, taking the State's recovery tally to 14,051. The recovery rate among the Coronavirus patients stands at 90.18 per cent.

As on date, while the State has 1,484 active coronavirus cases, the positivity rate is 9.82 per cent. Altogether 46 patients have succumbed to the infection so far. The State's fatality rate is 0.29 per cent, , informed State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa.

Of the new cases, 28 were reported from the Capital Complex region; 23 from East Siang; nine from Changlang; seven from West Kameng; five each from Lower Dibang Valley and Namsai districts; four each from Upper Subansiri and West Siang; two each from Pakke Kessang, Anjaw and Lower Subansiri; and one each from Tawang, Tirap, Shi-Yomi, Papumpare, Lepa Rada and Lohit districts.

Among the new patients are 27 personnel of the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), three of the Assam Rifles and two from the Army. The IRB jawans are among the 641 security personnel who returned from Bihar on Tuesday after election duty, said the Health official, adding that while 94 fresh infections were detected during Rapid Antigen Tests, three were found during TrueNat Tests.

The Capital Complex region — comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas — has the highest number of active cases at 856, followed by West Kameng (82), East Siang (68) and Shi-Yomi (62).

The State has so far tested 3.36 lakh samples for COVID-19, including 2,441 on Tuesday, added Dr Jampa.
