ITANAGAR: The Covid-19 tally in Arunachal Pradesh climbed up to 25,376 with 374 more people tested positive for the infection, a senior health department official said on Thursday.
The death toll in the northeastern state rose to 107 after three more persons, including two female from Lower Dibang Valley and Tawang and one male from East Siang district with comorbities, succumbed to the infection since Tuesday, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.
All the persons died while undergoing treatment at various health facilities in the state, the official said. The Capital Complex region recorded the highest number of fresh cases at 76, followed by Tawang (74), Changlang (71), Namsai (29), Lower Subansiri (20), Lower Dibang Valley (18), East Kameng (14), Kurung Kumey and Upper Subansiri with 12 each, Lohit (11) and East Siang (10).
Seven new cases were also recorded in Dibang Valley, six each in Papumpare and West Kameng, three in Longding, two in Leparada and one each in Tirap, Lower Siang and Kamle district respectively, the SSO said.
Of the fresh cases, 359 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 8 through RT-PCR and 7 through TrueNat method, the official said adding, 180 people have symptoms.
Arunachal Pradesh now has 3,504 active covid cases.
As many as 190 more people were recovered from the disease on Wednesday, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 21,765.
The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the state stand at 85.77 per cent while the active percentage stands at 13.81 and the positivity rate at 5.65 per cent, the official said. The Capital Complex Region - comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas - has the highest number of active cases at 653, followed by Changlang (420), Tawang (404), Namsai (261), Lower Subansiri (250) and Lower Dibang Valley at 227.
Altogether, 5,53,056 samples have been tested for Covid-19 in the state so far, including 6,609 on Wednesday, Jampa said.
State Immunisation Officer Dr Dimong Padung said that over three lakh 3,37,405 people have been inoculated so far in the state since the vaccination drive began in January.
Keeping in view the spurt in corona virus cases, the state government has imposed complete lockdown in nine districts of the state till May 31 next.
