Arunachal Pradesh reports 71 new Covid-19 cases

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh's Covid-19 caseload rose to 53,031 as 71 more people tested positive for the infection, a senior health official said here on Wednesday.

The Covid-19 death toll in the frontier state remained at 260 as no new fatality was reported in the last 24 hours, said State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa.

Leparada district recorded the highest number of new cases at 12, followed by the Capital Complex Region (11), Tawang (8), Lower Dibang Valley (7) and West Kameng at four cases, he said.

Fresh cases each were also recorded from West Siang, Lohit, Kamle, Changlang, East Siang, Pakke Kessang, Namsai, Lower Subansiri, Kra Daadi, Anjaw, Papumpare, Dibang Valley, Lower Siang, Upper Subansiri and Tirap districts. A total of 66 fresh cases were detected through rapid antigen test, one through RT-PCR and four by TrueNat method.

Arunachal Pradesh currently has 863 active Covid-19 cases, while 51,908 patients have recovered from the disease, including 108 on Tuesday, Jampa said.

The Covid-19 recovery rate in the State now is 97.88 per cent while the active percentage stands at 1.63 and the positivity rate at 1.79 per cent.

The Capital Complex Region - comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas - has the highest number of active cases at 182, followed by Lower Subansiri (82), West Kameng (64) and Upper Siang with 58 cases.

Altogether, 10,59,614 samples have been tested for Covid-19 in the state so far, including 3,962 on Tuesday, added Jampa.

Meanwhile, State Immunisation Officer (SSO) Dr Dimong Padung said that a total of 9,76,273 people have been administered Covid-19 vaccine doses so far in the State.
