ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) Secretary Santosh Kumar Rai has said that the anomalies in the recruitment process of Forester and Forest Guard candidates were due to technical issues, and it will soon issue a notice to give the candidates a second chance.

Rai said that there were numerous complaints received from the candidates by the board on the anomalies during the physical test. Accordingly, all the applications were processed during a board meeting.

Around 73 candidates from the second batch of the first day of physical test, held on March 25, were disqualified. However, the CCTV footage shows that the candidates were walking in the evening hours.

"It may be due to the heavy rain on the day which caused the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) not to capture the record. Therefore, it is a technical issue, and the board will soon look into the matter and make a conscious decision so that every candidate is given a fair chance," he said.

He said the RFID was used to set objectivity, accuracy and transparency in the recruitment process through technology. Moreover, the board has always been making an effort that no candidate is deprived due to such reasons.

Rai has appealed to the candidates to always provide feedback on the recruitment process of any examination conducted by the board because the feedback is very important to the board in improving the process and improvement has no limit, he added.

"A committee was formed to look into the entire recruitment process in PTC. There was a different location for the physical test, but due to heavy rainfall causing bad road condition which could lead to injuries, the walk was held at PTC," he said, adding that the test for the first batch of around 300 candidates went smoothly but due to the heavy rainfall in the evening hours, complications arose for the second batch of 73 candidates.

Earlier on Wednesday, the candidates for the post of Forester and Forest Guard had apprised the APSSB about anomalies during the test conducted at PTC Banderdewa on March 25.

The candidates demanded an early decision on the matter so that they can prepare for the next test. There were more than 70 candidates who claimed that there were anomalies in the test.
