ROING: A capacity building and training of Anti Human Trafficking Unit of Lower Dibang Valley was organized by the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) in collaboration with Lower Dibang Valley District Administration here on Tuesday.
Nabam Yahi Tad, Vice Chairperson (APSCW), addressed the gathering on the need for protection from human trafficking. She stated that those who are trafficked are also human beings and as human trafficking has not been criminalized, the human rights of the vulnerable section of people who get trafficked have to be protected.
Tad addressed the issue of prevalence of the menace of child labour in the state, warned about the improper use of social media which has become a tool to break families, misuse and exploitation done by private recruitment agencies and advised all to keep track of the youths going out of the state for employment. Nabam Yahi Tad also stressed that there should not be any compromise if a crime is committed against a child and encouraged people to register cases so that the perpetrators can be convicted.
Ngurang Nama (Member, APSCW) spoke on the roles and functions of Anti Human Trafficking Unit, Amo Pansa (SI, Roing) on legal provisions and acts to register cases in human trafficking cases, Maya Pulu (Member, APSCW) on psychological effects of stress and emotions and Kenter Lendo (Circle Officer, Roing) on individual and organisational approach in tackling human trafficking.
Rukmo Umpo (District Programme Coordinator, PMMVY, WCD), Mabi Taipodia Jini (Member Secretary, APSCW) and Tem Yabi also spoke on the occassion. Altogether 169 participants comprising of PRI Members, CWC members, NGOs, Police, WCD deptt and Anganwadi workers attended the programme.
