ITANAGAR: The 'Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women' (APSCW) has condemned the reported assault on a woman from Deorigaon in the Diyun Circle of Changlang district a few days ago.

Expressing deep anguish over the incident, APSCW Chairperson Radhilu Chai Techi said that the Commission received a written complaint from the 'Women Welfare Association of Narcotic Cell' at Lekang regarding the incident.

Appreciating the action of Police, Techi referred to Changlang Superintendent of Police who said that 15 accused people have been arrested while efforts were on to arrest the other accused as early as possible.

The Commission requested the social media users to refrain from circulating the said viral video clip which comes under cyber crime. A separate case of domestic violence was being filed under the 'Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act-2005', by the victim against her husband and his family in consultation with the APSCW by the Namsai CDPO, the Chairperson said.

"The APSCW has written to the Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Service Authority to provide free legal aid to the victim," Techi said. The Commission has requested the district administration concerned and the police to look into the matter by conducting a free and fair investigation and book the culprits involved in the crime.

It also requested all to cooperate with the police investigation so that justice is given to the victim, the APSCW said in a statement here.
