ITANAGAR: In order to conceptualise and promote the rich indigenous tribal attires, the Arunachal Government agreed to the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union's (AAPSU) request that traditional wear and costumes be worn once a month in all state-run public schools.

In order to preserve the state's rich culture and traditional values and to foster harmony among all the students through the cultural interchange, the state government has now decided to allow APST and Non-APST kids to attend school on one Friday every month while wearing their traditional attire.

The president of Dozi Tana Tara and the general secretary of Ritum Tali advised all parents to send their kids to school every Friday dressed in traditional attire and to instill in them an appreciation for the rich traditionalism that is vanishing in the modern world.

Earlier, during a number of public gatherings, CM Pema Khandu exhorted everyone to speak to their children at home in their native tongues in order to pass along knowledge of their mother tongue.

In a quest to strengthen the educational system in the Nyishi Inhabitat areas, the Nyishi Elite Society adopted seven public schools earlier on November 25.

The Nyishi Elite Society, which is the head of the largest tribe in Arunachal Pradesh, visited their adopted schools over the course of two days and donated power generators, a building for the entrance gate, computers, and a boys' hostel to the Sagalee, Pakke Kesang, and Pabua schools of Seppa government schools.

In order to provide a constant supply of electricity to the underprivileged students attending these government schools, NES executive members distributed power generators to three of the adopted schools. They also promised to do the same for the other four adopted schools.

Arunachal Pradesh is home to around 26 tribes and more than 100 subtribes. These include the Adis, Apatanis, Buguns, Hrussos, Singphos, Mishmis, Monpas, Nyishis, Sherdukpens, Tagins, Khamtis, Wanchos, Noctes, Yobin, Khambas, and Members as the main tribes. Each one of them has its own traditional attire.
