ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet on Friday approved procurement of four lakh Covishield vaccines to be administered on persons between the age group of 18 to 44.
The Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Pema Khandu approved to allow an additional amount of Rs 65 crore for procurement of the vaccines, official sources informed here.
The 65 crore additional amount will be above the normal budget allocation for the health department.
The cabinet also decided that vaccination between the age group of 18-44 will be administered free of cost to the people of the State.
The cabinet directed the health department to facilitate registration of all people above 18 years in the state, the sources added.
A total of 1,93,180 people were inoculated in the State so far since the vaccination drive began in January this year.
