Arunachal Pradesh Tourism Department distributes paragliding equipment

The Department of Tourism distributed paragliding equipment to seven paragliders of the Paragliding Association of Arunachal (PAA) under Chief Minister Paryatan

ITANAGAR: The Department of Tourism distributed paragliding equipment to seven paragliders of the Paragliding Association of Arunachal (PAA) under Chief Minister Paryatan Vikas Yojna (CMPVY) in an event held at the Directorate of Tourism office here on Tuesday.

Deputy Director of Tourism (HRD), Bengia Manna Sonam informed that the department has so far extended support to 20 unemployed youths of the State who have completed the paragliding courses under the scheme.

While appreciating the efforts of PAA, Sonam apprised that the department will always support the association for making the State an adventurous destination and also encourage new pilots to take up paragliding activity for self-employment.

Meanwhile, PAA president Vijay Sonam highlighting the event informed that Basar, Anini, Mechuka, Dambuk and Paya near Aalo district were found to be feasible for a paragliding site. He requested the Department of Tourism to include paragliding activity as one of the events in all the adventure festivals sponsored by the Department of Tourism.

Appreciating the department for providing wings to the pilots, he also informed that 40 pilots have been trained under PAA and out of which 20 pilots including five lady pilots were benefited under the CMPVY scheme so far.

Among others, Everester Abraham Tagit Sorang, Director of Tourism Abu Tayeng and officials of the Tourism department were present on the day.
