ITANAGAR: The District & Session Court, Yupia on Tuesday rejected the bail plea of Jobom Chang Mengu who was arrested by the state police of the SIC in connection with the APPSC examination paper leakage case.
Jobom Chang Mengu, who served as the broker in the APPSC (AE-Civil) question paper leakage case, was arrested by the SIC and is in judicial custody.
Speaking to the reporters, the lawyer for the complainant, Pritam Taffo said that the bail was objected by him as well as the representatives of CBI present on the day. The CBI has its own reasons to object to the bail plea of the accused.
He said that the case under investigation, and the accused cannot be granted bail as of now. Moreover, the accused was on the run and was constantly changing his name and location before being arrested by the SIC. The constant change of name and location of stay in Guwahati by the accused is a heinous offense.
Taffo also said that being an advocate for the complainants, his efforts are not to let the accused be granted bail. Likewise, the government representative is also making the same effort that no one is being bailed until a proper investigation is completed.
"I hope the SIC and CBI file charge sheet within the time frame of 90 days in this particular case. If the agency delays in filing the charge sheet within the time, the accused gets default bail under 167 Crpc.
Taffo also informed that a court order on the hearing of today's bail plea by the accused will be passed by the court on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the counsel of the aggrieved aspirant, Tapi Omo informed that there will be a hearing for another six accused arrested by the police in connection to the APPSC cash-for-job scam on Wednesday. Earlier today, the aggrieved aspirants also protested against the bail plea by the accused outside the Session court here.
