Banks asked to improve credit deposit ratio in Arunachal Pradesh

ROING: Lower Dibang Valley Deputy Commissioner KN. Damo called on a district-level consultation and review meeting on the performance of district banks on Credit Deposit (CD) ratio and adoption of annual credit plan-2012-22 at his office here on Friday.

Expressing his dismay over the decrease in the CD ratio by 1.73% from 21.41% in December 2021 to 19.68% in December 2021, the DC said that banks have to perform better and meet up the target allotted to them.

He further said that the Central and State governments had initiated schemes in sectors like Agriculture, MSME etc, which is considered the backbone of the rural economy.

"The schemes are to facilitate and uplift the economy of the rural population. Therefore, all appointed bankers should make an initiative to educate the people on the types of loans available, help them in the paperwork and provide loans to eligible people," he said.

The DC also warned that only banks that were performing would be allotted business under government schemes.

Addressing the concern of the banks on repayment defaulters/ poor repayment of government scheme loans, DC recommended seeking the help of Gaon Burahs, CBOs and PRI members to root out bogus applicants and provide loan to genuine beneficiaries who would responsibly repay the loans.

He also advised the banks to use social media platforms to inform the customers about the schemes, connect with the customers and also to prepare actionable annual plans and stick to it.

The DC also expressed dismay over the crowded conditions in the banks and advised all to ensure that norms of masking, hand hygiene and social distancing are followed.

Meanwhile, Lead District Manager, SBI Roing AP. Singha appraised all on the performance of the banks in disbursements of loans in various sectors.

Schematic progress of government schemes (KCC, PMEGP, Mudra Loan, Kisan Credit Card, Fishery KCC, WCC, SHG finance), financial literacy/ skill development programme, PM Social Security Schemes-PMJDY, PMSBY, PMJJBY and APY and recovery of government sponsored loans including Bakijai cases was reviewed during the meeting.
