Itanagar: In the run-up to the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (retd) Dr BD Mishra on Tuesday participated in a ‘safai abhiyan’ (cleanliness drive) at Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) at Naharlagun, near here.

Before the cleanliness drive, the Governor visited different wards and departments of the lone medical college in the State, including central laboratory, blood bank, cardiology and radiology departments and made on-the-spot visits of those facilities which are yet to be commissioned due to administrative hitches.

He also discussed about the shortages of manpower in the institute, a Raj Bhawan release informed.

The Governor, while interacting with the doctors and staff of the hospital said that TRIHMS like other institutions, is also undergoing the phase of teething troubles such as resources limitation, manpower constraint, training and infrastructure insufficiencies.

“Notwithstanding that what is important is how we address the problems and move forward with what so ever resources we have, he said.

Dr Mishra exhorted the doctors, nurses and the staff to work with passion and resolve to improve the working milieu of the institute and the care and treatment of the patients.

He advised the TRIHMS incumbents to try hard and work with common goal of moving forward.

“With sincere and concerted efforts, we can make a good effect and visible change in TRIHMS performance. Let us make the institute a destination for people of other states, he appealed.
