Itanagar: In a major boost to the kiwi grower’s of Lower Subansiri district in Arunachal Pradesh, the first consignment of a fully loaded refrigerator van carrying 5.78 metric ton of finest kiwis was flagged off from Ziro, the district headquarter, by district horticulture officer (DHO) Komri Murtem. The consignment was sent through the North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Cooperation (NERAMAC), an official release informed here on Thursday.
“The MoU signed between NERAMAC and the Kiwi Growers Association, Ziro will enable the big and the small farmers to equally market their kiwis to the world. Through this MoU our kiwis will be exported to New Zealand, Australia and the European countries,” Murtem informed.
“The kiwi production this year is expected to cross last year’s record of 2800 MT. We are expecting a production in between 2900 to 3000 MTs,” he added. NERAMAC is further expected to make few more trips to Ziro to lift kiwis, the release added.
