ITANAGAR: The motorable foot tracks from Huri towards the Indo-Tibet border areas in Arunachal Pradesh, under the supervision of 85 Road Construction Company's Maj Prabhakar and Col KK Tiwari, will begin soon, a senior official of the construction forces informed.

Arunachal Pradesh shares 1126-km of total 3,488-km-long Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China, along with Myanmar (440 km) and Bhutan (160 km).

Of the total 60 Assembly constituencies of the State, 20 touch international borders, out of which 13 touch with China.

Project Arunank, set up in 2008 with Naharlagun near here as its headquarters, is engaged in infrastructure-building in tough Upper Subansiri and Kurung Kumey districts, both touching the Indo-China border in the State.

BRO Director General (DG) Lt Gen Rajeev Chaudhry, during his recent three-day tour, visited the State's forward border areas along the LAC in Huri sector of Damin circle under the Kurung Kumey district, and inspected ongoing construction of roads, bridges and foot tracks.

Appreciating Project Arunank for linking picturesque Damin, about 100-km from Kurung Kumey district headquarter Koloriang, and construction of foot tracks from Huri towards border areas, the DG had given nine DGBR commendation certificates on the spot.

The BRO had built road up to Huri in Damin circle of the Kurung Kumey district, particularly by building Huri Bridge in June 2021.

The construction of the road by BRO up to Indo-China border is under the scanner of the Central Government, as was proved when President Ram Nath Kovind, in his address to joint sitting of Parliament on January 31 this year, had said: "Border Roads Organization has constructed a transport-worthy road at 19,000 feet, the highest altitude for such a road, at Umling La Pass in Ladakh. Even the most remote villages, like Demchok in Ladakh, Joling Kong in Uttarakhand and Huri in Arunachal Pradesh have been connected by modern roads."
