ITANAGAR: The Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre has launched several schemes for the overall benefit of the traders in the country, Arunachal Pradesh Industrial Development Finance Corporation (APIDFC) Chairman Wanglong Rajkumar said here on Saturday. Speaking at an interaction programme with the traders at a city hotel here, which was organised by the state unit of the BJP as part of the month-long Maha Jan Sampark Abhiyan, Rajkumar said that the MSME (micro, small, and medium enterprises) schemes of the Centre have benefited the business community to a large extent. "Under MSME schemes, the government provides various facilities, but businessmen have to apply through industry departments in the state. Traders in the state have failed to take advantage of the scheme," he said, appealing to them to take advantage of the scheme. He added that, under the scheme, the Centre would support the traders through Unity Mall, where they could sell local products. "The state government has proposed one unity mall near Hollongi airport where traders can apply to seek slots, which will be completed within this year as advised by the Centre," he revealed. He added that traders in the state could utilise the common facility centres, a scheme of the centre, to sell their products, which would be within a town. Such centres would not only facilitate selling products but would also provide opportunities to produce, he said.

Rajkumar further informed that the state government has already approved the creation of a special economic zone in Changlang district where traders would benefit as they would not have to pay GST and other customs-related issues would be resolved. "The special economic zone is for export purposes, and the Centre will provide every support to resolve customs issues," he added. Responding to the problems faced by the traders of the state capital in running their businesses, including bank finances and inner line permits, state unit BJP president Biyuram Wahge assured to take up the matter with the government for early redressal. "The traders' community has a greater role to play in strengthening the state and the country," Wahge said, adding that the BJP always works for the betterment of the people, including the business community. He added that to resolve the problems of the business community while travelling through Assam, the Centre has proposed an ambitious road project, the East-West Industrial Corridor.

The 966.78-kilometre two-lane road project across the lower foothills of Arunachal Pradesh would start from Bhairabkunda in Assam in the west to Kanubari in Longding district of the state in the east. "With the completion of the road project, the traders of the state will not face any difficulties as they can travel from one place to another without touching Assam," Wahge added. While highlighting various activities and programmes under the nine years of Modi government and the seven years of Pema Khandu government in the state, Wahge said that the Indian economy, which stood at 10th position in 2014, now stands at the top five ranking. "India’s growth story is the result of persistent, methodical, and well-thought-out efforts made by the Prime Minister," he pointed out.

He added that the BJP never works for power or politics but for the welfare of the people. The party’s state secretary, Tadar Niglar, speaking on the occasion, highlighted the developmental activities and achievements of the Modi and Khandu governments. "BJP workers will go for door-to-door awareness campaigns on various schemes, programmes, and policies of the BJP government. After 2014, a lot of reforms have taken place in the country, especially in the education and health sectors," Niglar pointed out. Highlighting various initiatives of the Centre on Ease of Doing Business (EoDB), Niglar said that the Modi government created a business-friendly atmosphere to promote the traders of the country.
