SEPPA: Arunachal Pradsesh Chief Secretary (CS) Naresh Kumar has asked the Public Works Department (PWD) engaged in the construction of the much delayed 81-km Seppa-Chayantajo Road in East Kameng district to complete the remaining work at the earliest or face the consequences.

The State government had earlier approved a preliminary inquiry into a complaint filed against M/s Gammon India over alleged irregularities in construction of the North East Council (NEC)-funded Rs 172-crore road.

While taking detailed updates on the road construction during a review meeting held at the DC Conference Hall here, Kumar said that though the case is under SIC (Special Investigation Cell), he asked the engineers to complete the remaining work as soon as possible.

The CS also asked the district administration to ensure that the PWD completes the remaining stretch of road. The Department has set a target to complete the remaining stretch by March 31 next year. Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs Mama Natung also requested the Chief Secretary to constitute a separate committee at the State level to monitor the work. Natung assured to support the SIC in their investigation to find out the people and offices involved in the corruption of public funds.
