ITANAGAR: The Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) has appealed to all Indians, particularly Arunachalees, to boycott all Chinese products by opting for Indian products to reflect patriotism.

The association condemned the barbaric act of People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China.

CoSAAP president Pate Marik and secretary general Gonya Riba in a statement on Friday said that the PLA without any provocation attacked Indian Army in Gawalan Valley on June 15 night killing 20 personnel including a colonel while China spread deadly Covid-19 across the world but kept it hidden.

Terming Chinese attack on Indian Army as barbaric and an act to hide its government's countless guilt against the humanity, the CoSSAP urged the state government to pass a law in state Assembly to prohibit sell and purchase of Chinese products permanently.

"This will be a move to make India self reliant in tune with Atma Nirbhar initiative," it added.

The association also appealed to local people living in border areas to cooperate with Indian Army and lend all possible help as and when required in guarding the frontier.

Meanwhile, Lumla lawmaker Jambey Tashi advocated 'itt ki jawab pathar se dena chahiye' (tit-for-tat) while reacting to misdemeanour of China in Gawalan Valley in Ladakh.

India is a peace loving nation and has never done anything against its neighbouring nations unlike China which is globally known for its treacherous policy," he said.

"The novel coronavirus sprang up from Wuhan city in December 2019 and turned pandemic by spreading into 183 countries as China intentionally hiding the fact is the best example," he reasoned.

Pointing out that PLA jawans have also been killed as global media has shown Chinese helicopter carrying bodies of PLA soldiers from that area, Tashi said that India has a very strong leadership now and would never spare an inch of land that is linked to its sovereignty.

India's frontier state of Arunachal Pradesh shares 3488-km border with China and the People's Liberation Army (PLA) had intruded into India through Lumla on October 20 1962 when Indian Army had fought at Zemithang, Muchut or Lumpo border posts valiantly albeit unprepared.

The bullet mark on the chin of 15-feet gold coated statue of Lord Jawa, other name of Lord Buddha, in 700-year-old Gorsam Stupa (One of the five in the world) in Lumla area near an army cantonment bears the testimony of inhuman attitude of PLA jawans.

Though the PLA jawans create skirmishes along Indo-China border sometimes, but everything is normal along eastern border now, Tashi said adding, the Army personnel are alert and guarding the border despite climatic and geographical challenges.

While the jawans would continue to do so, patriotic Arunachalees also living along the border areas always remain vigilant against any anti-India activities, he added.
